Go Figure

I start early setting up my Christmas decorations.  Nov 1 (gasp - from some of you).  It took me 2 weeks this year due to figuring out where to put things in the new home and also I needed to restring several trees.

I set up early.  I take down early.

I just finished packing away the final tree and decorations ... and now it snows.  Go figure.

Maybe I should keep my Christmas set up year around to keep the snow away.  Don't get me wrong.  I love the snow.  It is impossible to get out of my driveway with even the slightest dusting.

It takes me a few days to do it. The flu set me beind. I am ready for fresh and clean. I usually leave my snowmen collection up until the end of January, beginning of February since it is still winter. I took it down with the Christmas decorations this year since we are in the middle of finishing the basement ... oh the dust. It makes it easier to dust now that everything is down. I have very few decorations for the other holidays - Christmas is my thing! Just in the past couple of years I started setting up Halloween decorations - for the "Gross Out Feast" I have very few Thanksgiving decorations - in fact, most were broken during the move.

It does feel empty, but it feels SO good to have the space back. I used to go crazy with how messy it all was but now I tackle it room by room or collection by collection. It is much easier to tackle that way. The things are down ... not completely out of the way. I still have 5 Christmas Tree storage "bags" containing my full size trees on the floor in the entryway that need to be hauled out to the garage and then eventually in the finished basement storage under the stairs. I still have to put up my grapevine w/grapes over my windows of the eating area. Vacuum where the trees were ... I enjoy the process.

I think if I set my tree up when the average person does (after Thanksgiving), I would leave my tree up until the new year.

I say put up Valentine decorations!!!

Oh, and I leave my pencil post trees up year around in the corners of rooms. I have quite a few of those ... I love the green.
