Rubbing shoulders - or fins

Overheard from Jenna (referring to this meet)

Jenna diving in

"I totally swam against Missy Franklin last year... She passed me like, 5 times... But still."

I was there.  Jenna was amazing :) Jenna's 6:16.16 500 yd swim is much faster than mine.  Just sayin'

Good Luck Jenna!

Jenna has her "A League" prelims tonight! She is swimming the 500 yd Freestyle. She has been working hard on her flip turns. I can't wait to see how she does. The magic number is 5:50.00 for State Qualifying Times. Her current time is 6:16.16 ... with 19 flip turns, she can shave off some time!

Swim Jenna, Swim!

6:16.66

Jenna is doing amazing with her swimming. She shaved off yet another 10 seconds from two meets ago on her 500 yd Freestyle. This past week she shaved off another second. The goal: 5:50 to qualify for State. She has qualified for "A league" in several strokes already. She is going to work on her flip turns (kicking through them) - with 19 flip turns in the 500 yd Freestyle, surely she can shave off more time!

Jenna is a strong steady long distance swimmer. In this most recent race she was in third place for the majority of it (as seen in the picture above; Jenna is in the center of the picture) and then pulled ahead into first place by over 6 seconds to the second place swimmer and lapped one swimmer once and another swimmer twice.

I love watching her swim!

My swimmer

Jenna is on the high school swim team. She had her first meet on Tuesday. She has the most beautiful freestyle stroke. I could watch her swim all day (and she would probably love to swim all day too; she thinks her 1 1/2 hour practices aren't long enough!)

Tuesday she swam 1 Junior Varsity (JV) event and 2 Varsity (V) events. She took first in the 200 yd freestyle (JV) and held her own in the 500 yd freestyle (V) event. If she would have swam the 500 yd freestyle as JV, she would have placed first.

Way to go Jenna! She has another meet tonight! 1 JV event (500 free) and 3 Varsity events!
