Laundry = fun

I helped Kendall do his laundry.

He had: 
7 pairs of underware
5 1/2 pairs of socks
1 pair of jeans
1 shirt 
5 pairs of pj's

I think he had a very fun week ... of relaxing.

Kerst (now 9) has been doing his own laundry since he was 5. I do assist at times in helping him rotate just to keep things moving.

Kendall helps carry his laundry into the laundry room and puts it in the machine. He also likes to add the soap, softener and push buttons. I usually rotate. He also helps put his underware away, match socks. Putting things on hangers are still tricky for him. He keeps me company while we work on it. It is a process ... but well worth getting it started early. Each child has their own laundry basket and opportunity to do their laundry.

The girls go a longer span of time in doing their laundry. Sometimes when they were behind (school, work, musical, etc), I'd help them with rotating and then take it and hide their clean laundry until they were really ready to put it away. I dislike it when they don't put it away and then ends up being washed again.

right now i have a laundry day and i spend most of that day doing the laundry. i like that i don't have to think about laundry at all until that one day and then i just plan on being home that day so i can get it all done. BUT, i do it all myself. i should probably get these kids helping me sort and operate the machines. im sure they would LOVE that. so, your kids are pretty much in charge of doing their own laundry when they need it (unless they are super busy like you mentioned above). i really love getting ideas from other people on how they get their kids helping.

it won't be long until they start "borrowing" your clothes now.. especially if auntie kelly brings more clothes for MOM! i need to help you fill up your closet.. once you get the girls their own;)
