Come listen to the prophet's voice and ...

hear an inspiring story of my nephew, Jason.

During Sunday Morning Session of the April 2010 General Conference, President Thomas S. Monson shared a story about Jason. What a wonderful experience to hear the prophet share his inspiring story with the world on Easter Morning.

The Savior Lives!

“NEVER” (I saw this in Mary's scriptures as a bookmark when we visited them a couple of weeks ago) - this story was one of the stories President Monson shared of Jason during his talk yesterday.

The following experience is related by Jason’s father, Tim.

When I arrived at Primary Children's Medical Center on August 1, 2009, I found Jason wiped out lying on the bed. Desiring to do everything I could to make him comfortable and take his mind off his physical and emotional challenges, I started rubbing his feet. As I did so I said to him—not knowing if he was awake or not — “Jason, I know you have been through a lot in your short life and that your current condition is difficult. Even though you have a giant battle ahead, I don’t ever want you to lose your faith in Jesus Christ.” I was startled as Jason immediately opened his eyes, looked straight into my eyes, and responded “NEVER” in a clear, loud, and resolute voice! He then closed his eyes again and said no more.

In this simple declaration, Jason expressed one of the most powerful, pure testimonies of Jesus Christ that I have ever heard. With a body tormented by almost 4 years of illness, he still had absolute faith in the Savior — a faith that had not wavered a single bit! In fact he had every desire to move forward and fight this latest challenging illness with “faith in every footstep.” As his declaration of “NEVER” became imprinted on my soul that day, my heart filled with joy that my Heavenly Father had blessed me to be the father of such a tremendous and noble boy.
Jason’s expression of “NEVER” was the last time I heard him declare his testimony of Christ. From this special experience I will forever remember the inner courage, strength, and determination I saw in him from his weakened condition in a hospital bed at Primary Children’s. It was immediate and powerful. This experience has become for me an example of true greatness as I remember Jason’s dignity and faith as he endured to the end!

Hey Corin-
My Dad called me after conference to tell me that those were Mary's boys. Can't believe it! What an awesome example of faith to be related to.
