Oops he did it again...

Yep. Kendall fell AGAIN. He hit his mouth and teeth AGAIN while running in the kitchen. Just when his teeth were turning white after the first incident (actually second; the first one was in January)! Guess we might be visiting the dentist sooner than his 3 month follow-up ... Poor kiddo.

This time he allowed me to put pressure on his lip and teeth to stop the bleeding faster. I had him watch Dora the Explorer while I held the wash cloth with ice against his lip. It was fun to hear him try to answer Dora's questions with the cloth against his face.

We will see how he does tomorrow. I wonder if he will look like a "Who" (from the Grinch who stole Christmas)...again. sigh...

Kendall is 2 - ok, 2 months ago!

Here is the scrapbook page I put together of Kendall's birthday celebration. (Digital scrapbooking is one of my passions of preserving our family memories) The photos are taken by his Aunt Kelly...amazing isn't she!?

Journaling on the page : Kendall turned 2 in June. We didn’t have a functioning kitchen at the time so I kept putting off his birthday cake. While in Utah, we crashed Aunt Brooke’s side of the family 4th of July family picnic. The Gurr family celebrates everyone’s birthday with one cake allowing all to have a turn to be sung to and blow out candles. We jumped in on this opportunity to finally celebrate Kendall’s 2nd birthday. The cake was well used. He enjoyed the attention.

This picture was taken about an hour after Kendall tripped and landed on his face. He bled for about 5 hours. He was pretty swollen the next day. I called him Kendall Lou Who because he reminded me of one of the Who's in the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. He had a black lip on the inside and a bruise in the crease of his smile. We went to the dentist a week ago and we are still waiting to see if his teeth will survive. They are slightly beige.

Kendall mouth update

Kendall's teeth have turned beige in the last couple of days. I got him in to the pediatric dentist today. Our dentist wouldn't have been able to give the attention needed to a 2 year old (not fun enough...).

This practice has the sweetest dentists I have ever met. The staff was really sweet too. The nurse came out to become friends with Kendall. As soon as she mentioned fish, he was following her like a puppy. I stayed away.

They couldn't get X-rays. He wouldn't do that but he would open his mouth and let them check out his teeth. She said that his teeth are a "class 1" in wiggliness which is good.

The dentist said that we are still in the wait and see stage. They could turn white again or completely die (brown) and would possibly need to be pulled.

She said giving him Popsicles and ice cream were perfect. It is a wait and see and treat as needed.

The staff loved Kendall. He entertained them with his animal sounds. They fell in love with his double dimple smile and shy eyes. He was giving me Eskimo kisses when I met up with him in the exam room to talk to the doctor and nurse. They were loving it. They told me this was a great start to their day; he was their first appointment.

We get to go back in 3 months unless other symptoms develop.
