Once again, the members of our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints aka Mormons, from all around the world gathered together via Internet, satellite, cable, etc.. to hear the leaders of our church.
This Conference weekend, our family enjoyed:
Staying in our PJ's all day (mainly the kids)
Skier Pancakes
Family
Brisket, mashed potatoes, salad, rolls
TONS of Candy Corn (Kendall found Aunt Emily's stash)
Coloring Pictures for Bama to hang in the hospital
Puzzles
Music
and some wonderful counsel.
My favorite talk was President Monson's remarks about "Finding Joy in the Journey". This was probably my favorite message this time around. This is what I learned: The difference between all of us are only in the details. Greatest lessons we can learn are lessons that help us distinguish what is important and what is not. Do not let what is important pass you by. Find Joy in the Journey NOW. Stresses in our life should not get in the way of what is important. We should never assume that those around us know we love them, we should let them know. He shared a story about a member of the church that was captured during the Vietnam war. His captors finally allowed him to write home after 2 years. They limited his message to less than 25 words. What would you and I say? This is what he wrote so that his family would recognize it was him but also leave valuable council. "These things are important: temple marriage, mission, college, press-on, set goals, write history, take pictures twice a year."
This sounds like another great Family Home Evening activity!
